      Description

Android 4.2 does natively support Cell Broadcasts (http://www.anandtech.com/show/6440/google-nexus-4-review/4 'Odds and Ends'), but does not default enable it. From frameworks/base/core/res/res/values/config.xml:

<!-- Set to true to add links to Cell Broadcast app from Settings and MMS app. -->
      <bool name="config_cellBroadcastAppLinks">false</bool>

It seems that the package 'CellBroadcastReceiver' is also required.

Cell Broadcasts are used by the Dutch government under the name of 'NL-Alert' to alert citizens in case of emergency situations.
The Galaxy S2 is officialy supported by the Dutch government (http://translate.google.nl/translate?sl=nl&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=nl&ie=UTF-8&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Finstelhulp.nlalert.nl%2Fsamsung%2Fi9100-galaxy-s-ii%2Fnl-alert%2Fnl-alert-op-jouw-mobiele-telefoon%2F is translated from Dutch to English)

Go to Cell Broadcast settings and disable warnings there.
If you enable Developers Settings in Android Settings you get even more things to turn off in CB Settings,
Last resort is to freeze the app.

But this bug report is not about how to stop CB, so please continue that discussion somewhere else.

On my 11-20141118-NIGHTLY-d802 I didn't receive the broadcast either, though I do have it enabled. This is on the KPN carrier.

        Hello Eddy,

I am sorry you are right that topic of this issue is different.

But the solution to disable you suggested did not work on CM10.1 neither works on CM11.

Maybe freezing the right app. Which is that please?

        Thank you,

        Tomas

Chile is using CB Channel 919 too for emergency alerts. CM running devices were reported to not received alerts after Calbuco volcano eruption.

Another devices with their stock firmware were receiving it.
