      Description

As previous ticket was closed (CYAN-1286) I am re-opening here after testing with CM11-M8. Previous ticket was relevant for CM10.0 - CM v11 nightly feb09-14

What happens: When a user attempts to encrypt phone the device reboots, goes to Samsung splash screen for approx 5 minutes, reboots to samsung splash screen and stays there for less than 30 seconds, reboots again, stays at samsung splash screen and reboots once more and then stars cyanogenmod. Upon startup of cyanogenmod user is faced with a factory reset device with all data wiped.

What should happen: When a user attempts to encrypt a phone the device gets encrypted.

      Reproduce:

      • Install CM11-M8
      • Step through set up
      • Set a pin
      • Select encrypt device
      • let phone reboot
      • phone gets wiped

Affected devices: This was tested on CM11-m8, though I have never been able to encrypt my jfltexx phone, first tested on CM 10.1 and then 10.2.x. All attempts have resulted in a wiped phone.

What firmware are you guys on? Make sure you're on a kitkat-based firmware. (Be careful on vzw/att devices, you only want the baseband updates, not bootloader)

        XXUDMH6 is not a kitkat modem/baseband; try XXUGUNG2 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2192025

Could you explain how the baseband could affect the encrypting of the phone in my laymans mind these should not have any impact on each other?

        Yes, XXUGNG2.

Dan will have to answer the rest of the question, I just know the baseband versions.
